Hospital Expansion, Master Plan, Renovations
149 Beds
Building Area: 521,000 SF
The expansion of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, which took ten years to complete, enhances the Bay Area facility that opened in 1991 with a 250,000-square-foot building. Recognized for its exceptional care and services to patients from across the United States and the world, this expansion symbolizes hope and healing, further enriching the remarkable landscape of Stanford University. The aim was to elevate the level of hospitality for children and families receiving care by incorporating and featuring the delights of natural ecosystems and landscapes. The commitment to environmental and sustainable goals is reflected in thoughtful design elements throughout the building to provide insight and encourage discovery. The hospital acquired the latest medical technologies to support advancements in healthcare. Additionally, HGA exclusively undertook smaller-scale renovations of the original hospital and developed a comprehensive master plan to seamlessly connect and integrate the existing and new facilities as one cohesive unit. The expansion was officially completed in December 2017.
